Product Description
This is Department 56 ~ A CHRISTMAS CAROL Plate #2 which was introduced in 1992 and is 2nd in a Series of 4 Plates. ~ These plates are porcelain, 9.5" in diameter and banded in 24 Karat Gold. ~ The title on the back of this plate is "MARLEY'S GHOST APPEARS TO SCROOGE". ~ Each plate carries a decorated backstamp, containing the "A CHRISTMAS CAROL" series name, the title of each plate and a descriptive quotation pertaining to the illustration. ~ The quote on the back of the plate reads "AT THIS, THE SPIRIT RAISED A FRIGHTFUL CRY, AND SHOOK ITS CHAIN WITH SUCH A DISMAL AND APPALLING NOISE, THAT SCROOGE HELD ON TIGHT TO HIS CHAIR, TO SAVE HIMSELF FROM FALLING IN A SWOON,"... MERCY!" HE SAID, "DREADFUL APPARITION, WHY DO YOU TROUBLE ME?" ~ "MAN OF THE WORLDLY MIND!" REPLIED THE GHOST, " DO YOU BELIEVE IN ME OR NOT?" "I DO" SAID SCROOGE, "I MUST"... ~ These plates were manufactured in Germany and the artwork is by ROBERTO INNOCENTI. ~~~~~
