Product Description
This is Department 56 ~ A CHRISTMAS CAROL Plate #1 which was introduced in 1991 and is 1st in a Series of 4 Plates. ~ These plates are porcelain, 9.5" in diameter and banded in 24 Karat Gold. ~ The title on the back of this plate is "THE CRATCHIT'S CHRISTMAS PUDDING". ~ Each plate carries a decorated backstamp, containing the "A CHRISTMAS CAROL" series name, the title of each plate and a descriptive quotation pertaining to the illustration. ~ The quote on the back of the plate reads "MRS. CRATCHIT, FLUSHED, BUT SMILING PROUDLY, WITH THE PUDDING LIKE A SPECKLED CANNON-BALL, SO HARD AND FIRM, BLAZING IN HALF OF HALF-A-QUARTERN OF IGNITED BRANDY, AND BEDIGHT WITH CHRISTMAS HOLLY STUCK INTO THE TOP. OH, A WONDERFUL PUDDING! BOB CRATCHIT SAID, AND CALMLY TOO, THAT HE REGARDED IT AS THE GREATEST SUCCESS ACHIEVED BY MRS. CRATCHIT SINCE THEIR MARRIAGE." ~ These plates were manufactured in Germany and the artwork is by ROBERTO INNOCENTI. ~ They are absolutely beautiful! ~~~~~
